For newer printers (HP LaserJet Pro, HP LaserJet Enterprise, HP LaserJet Managed, HP PageWide, etc.), go to 123.hp.com to get the latest drivers. Note: For Deskjet, ENVY, Officejet, Photosmart, or PSC printers, go to macOS and OS X Compatible Printers. Click the plus sign and select the listed 1018 printer. Click the Use drop-down menu and then click on Select Printer Software. Type 1022 in the search box and select the HP Laserjet 1022 driver. Click OK and confirm any dialog, then try printing using the created print queue. I copied this solution from Shlomi, an HP. My HP Laserjet 1018 doesn't have any drivers for MAC OS X 10.4.9. I tried printing without installing a driver but it failed. I searched online for 'Laserjet 1018 MAc OS X' and a bunch of stuff came out, but they can get a bit too techy and I ended up not understanding anything.
It's working now.
- Download and install the following package:
- Ensure the printer is powered on and the USB is directly connected to your Mac.
- Click the Apple icon, select System Preferences and then go to Printers & Scanners.
- click the plus sign and select the listed 1018 printer.
- Click the Use drop-down menu and then click on Select Printer Software.
- Type 1022 in the search box and select the HP Laserjet 1022 driver.
- Click OK and confirm any dialog, then try printing using the created print queue.
