Clear Cache Mac

I have found that Contacts.app syncs a hidden Exchange directory called 'Recipient Cache' (probably because this directory is located within the main 'Contacts' directory and appears to be a simple sub-folder).

This is actually creating additional contact cards—even for those already in my Contact list (which means they appear as duplicates when I click the 'All Contacts' option in the left nav pane).

I've been using MFCMAPI to manually clear 'Recipient Cache' (but the duplicates inevitably return), but should Contacts.app sync this directory in the first place? Anybody got a better workaround?
