Vsphere Client Failed To Install Hcmon Driver Windows 10

  • Can employers access any information from your personal pc when using VMWare Horizons Client? Vm constantly hits 100% cpu utilization, any way to set a max limit it can get to? Vsphere client 5.5 fails to install the hcmon driver (.SOLVED.).

Installing vSphere Client fails; Installation wizard almost completes and then starts rolling back; In the c: Documents and Settings Local Setting Temp vminst.log file, you see entries similar to: Failed to copy file: 0x00000002 'c: windows system32 drivers hcmon.sys' Failed to create service for hcmon driver Service 'hcmon' already.

Does anyone know how or where to report problems with the website?

None of the available VMTN forums seem to be applicable, and the “Contact Us” at the bottom of the page doesn’t have a way to report website problems.

I am sticking this in vSphere forum so eyeballs see it. I am sorry, I blame VMWare for making reporting this problem difficult.

,

I previously successfully signed in to the forum using “Google Chrome, Version 84.0.4147.105 (Official Build) (64-bit)” on Windows 10.

When I visit this site again in a new tab, I get an error page “400 Bad Request” – “Request Header or Cookie Too Large”

I can access the VMTN website if I open an Incognito window which then doesn’t have any cookies associated with it.

If I open the Chrome Console with function F12, look at Network -> Headers, and refresh the page, there is a ridiculous cookie in the request header that is 9775 characters long.

I would post the content of the cookie, but it potentially contains personal information about me that should not be public.

It looks like VMTN is creating the cookie, so it’s probably a problem on VMWare’s end, not Google.

Hello,

This seems to be my last resort in solving this problem, I hope someone has had this issue before and can provide a new direction into solving this.

Scenario: had an upgrade from 6.7 U1 to 6.7 U3, so took the time to install the latest remote console software (worked fine).

I couldn’t establish a session to my VM’s anymore (due to an SSL issue).

Vsphere Client Failed To Install Hcmon Driver Windows 10

In trying to understand and solve that issue, I uninstalled my vmware software (as far as I remember, only the remote console was installed).

Ever since, I’m unable to reinstall the software.

This is the error:

VMInstallHcmon

Failed to install the hcmon driver

Now I’ve come across several simple things that should help me, but it didn’t:

  • remove vsphere client, install remote console and reinstall vsphere client
  • install with extra admin priviliges
  • Do a register workaround (enable HCmon, install, remove regkey)

I was unfamiliar with the hcmon.sys file before this issue started. From what I learned, this should be provided by the OS under the System32 < drivers folder.

It seems this one is missing on my device, but I’m unsure if it should be there (I also read a hcmon.sys file is being installed through the remote console installation).

To be sure, I’ve cleaned up the registry (ccleaner) and ran a sfc /scannow, which succeeded without errors.
